The Responsible Retailing Forum, Inc. ("RRF") began as project of the Heller Graduate School, Brandeis University and Florida Center for Prevention Research, Florida State University.

As a way of more fully capturing the expanding opportunities for public-private partnerships, and for engaging diverse stakeholders in cooperative policy research and development, RRF became a separate legal, non-profit corporation in June, 2006.

In January, 2007, RRF received IRS approval for tax-exempt, 501(C)3 status.
